MTR Elizabeth Line – Multiple Projects

Playing a key role and delivering a flawless solution.

OVERVIEW

The Elizabeth Line is one of the most significant additions to London’s transport network. Connecting suburbs in the west such as Reading and Heathrow to those in the east including Shenfield and Abbey wood. Spanning over 100 kilometres in total. It has increased London’s rail capacity and reduces passenger journey times across the city. Infocus Resources played a key role in proving skilled trades for a number of Crossrail’s projects.

CUSTOM HOUSE

The Crossrail programme entailed the provision of a brand-new station at Custom House, linking Crossrail with DLR, which provides transport to the adjacent Excel Exhibition Centre and the nearby Docklands area. Infocus were the main supporting supplier enabling the milestone achievement of having the station re-open ahead of schedule brought about by around the clock working.

Infocus worked with Dyer & Butler, for DLR, which involved the removal of the existing station canopies and the installation of a new mezzanine level, above and across the full length of the existing DLR platforms, tying into the Crossrail footbridge.

With the new installation, two staircases were added. In addition, Infocus Resources provided the installation of facade works including cladding, station glazing and tiling as well as ticket booths, refurbishing station amenities, installation of gatelines, platform and concourse paving.

We estimate that approximately 400 tons of structural steel and 300 m3 of concrete were used during this project, which required the closure of the DLR station during the works.

London Overground Crossrail scheme – West

Infocus Resources was involved with several major upgrades by Network Rail of the Western section of the Elizabeth line route in preparation for the arrival of new services.

This Crossrail project provides new trains, better stations, and easier, more reliable journeys for passengers in West London, South Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. We worked at Southall, West Drayton, and Hayes & Harlington stations, each of which having substantial upgrades. Infocus took on self-delivery packages as well as deploying various multi skilled trades and safety critical personnel for Hochtief, J Murphy and Lundy Projects

London Overground Crossrail scheme – East

Infocus supplied personnel to support the installation of lifts which provided step free access, and an improved customer experience at three London stations; Maryland, Manor Park and Seven Kings.

Hochtief was responsible for the design, manufacture, and fitting of nine lifts (three per station), the new raised walkways at Manor Park and Seven Kings, and the refurbishment of the Maryland station building. Infocus deployed multi skilled trades and safety critical personnel.

Stations improvement Programme

Infocus carried out platform seating enablement works and signage groundworks, including associated installations. Working collaboratively with MTR we agreed a programme, methodology, inspection regime, and completion of other administrative requirements on commencing the works.

It was essential that all statutory and MTR health and safety requirements were complied with, and the works were suitably supervised at all times with no disruption to the operational performance of the stations, station staff and the travelling public.

Other MTR works has included:

Possession Planning • Logistic Support • De-Vegetation • Reinforced Concrete Foundations • Removal of Redundant Signage • Providing Anti-trespass Solutions • Station Window Replacement • Metal Alteration / Fabrication. Other MTR Works Included • Palisade Fencing • GRP Fencing • Key Clamp Fencing • Platform End Barriers • Platform Furniture Installations • Armco Barrier Installations • Gutter Cleaning • Station/Platform Signage Installations
