Steering London Overground Towards a Brighter Future

London’s Overground underwent a major transformation, thanks to Infocus’s rail revolution! Commuters got a thrilling makeover, with an impressive capacity boost that truly changed the travel experience.

Infocus led a colossal £320 million project aimed at increasing the London Overground’s capacity by 25%. Spanning six bustling London boroughs and extending 31 platforms across 17 stations, this initiative was nothing short of a logistical marvel. Navigating busy stations and building next to residential homes presented a significant challenge, but Infocus handled it with style and precision.

With 14 active sites and over 300 skilled operatives working round the clock, Infocus was the driving force behind this transformation. They didn’t just lay new tracks and install overhead line equipment (OHLE); they also moved signalling gear and created state-of-the-art platforms. The bespoke solutions included a unique steel cantilevered design on a historic brick viaduct and a new bridge that doubled as a platform.

In addition to their platform work, Infocus teamed up with Colas Rail to overhaul the signalling and operational telecoms, meeting Network Rail’s high standards. The system was not only expanded but also made smoother and more efficient, ready to handle the surge in passenger numbers.

The achievement was monumental. Infocus’s construction work, which included walkways, drainage, CCTV, and disabled access, was completed ahead of schedule and with a flawless safety record. TfL’s Director of London Overground, Mike Stubbs, praised the project as crucial for meeting growing demand and ensuring the Overground remained one of the most satisfying transport services in London and the Southeast.
