LOCIP – Various Tier 1 Principal Contractors

Showing skills, passion and ability.

THE WORK

The work was part of the overall £320m programme to deliver an additional 25% capacity on the route. The geographical boundaries of the scheme involved six London Boroughs with many station platforms backing onto local residential properties. The scope of work for the scheme included the extension to 31 platforms across 17 stations on the network. Logistics was a key factor in the success of this project. Provision of services to build the platform extensions, across the North London Line stations, included supplying multidisciplined civils and safety critical trades, site management, and taking on packages of work.

THE PROJECT

The project had 14 live operational sites and over 300 operatives deployed by Infocus daily. We covered almost every civils and railway discipline as the majority supplier supporting our client, enabling the delivery of new OHLE masts, relocating signalling equipment, track monitoring, earthing and bonding, traction current bonding, relocation of E&P equipment including a package substation, HV cable moves, as well as civils elements which included the installation of precast-concrete platforms, a bespoke grundomat piled platform solution, a steel cantilevered solution to a brick viaduct, a new bridge incorporating a platform as well as the more traditional beam and block and solid platform construction.

In addition, Infocus supported Colas Rail on the Signalling & Operational Telecommunications aspects of the same programme, built to Network Rail standards.

ACHIEVEMENT

Infocus was responsible for the deployment of P-Way track teams and multi-skilled civil teams, during the construction works. This included supporting the construction of new walkways, signals, location case, REB bases, cable troughing, UTX installation works, foul and surface water drainage, the installation of disabled access, P-Way track renewals, S&C, patrolling, CCTV, SPT works, new modified telecoms, and the replacement and relocation of signalling equipment.

It was a monumental achievement that Infocus Resources were extremely proud of; to complete the works with an exemplary safety record, delighting all stakeholders and ahead of the program. Infocus Resources was extremely proud to have been the majority supplier of labour operatives for this project.

TfL’s Director of London Overground, Mike Stubbs, explained that the infrastructure changes were key in the development of the network as TfL worked to provide 25 per cent more capacity as part of TfL’s continued investment in London Overground. “It would ensure we remained able to meet the growing demand for London Overground services which – at 89 per cent – had one of the highest levels of passenger satisfaction in London and the Southeast”.

Infocus Resources were delighted to have shown that we had the skills, passion, innovation, and ability to provide the quality of labour resource required to support our clients’ in delivering this significant multi-disciplinary rail project in the UK.
